Note from Hayley
What a disappointing end to the season with the Australian Championships being cancelled and now it's been hard to get some decent training in with a neck and shoulder injury which has been giving me trouble since April. At this stage I have ruled the Coolangatta Gold out unless I get a full recovery in the next couple of weeks. I know the Gold is still 4 months away but I still can't swim without a snorkel or paddle a ski. It would kill me to watch everyone do the Gold, so fingers crossed I make a full recovery!

Note from Hayley
It was a tragic end to the Australian titles. We lost one of ours in a freak surf accident.
Saxon Bird died doing something he loved and I'm sure the exhilaration of riding big surf was part of what attracted him to the sport. It certainly doesn't take the pain away, but it may make his tragic passing easier for his loved ones to cope with.
I send my condolences to his family, friends and surf lifesaving community as this is very close to home for many of us.

State Titles at Kurrawa
Waves played havoc for the competitors at the Queensland State titles over the weekend. In the ironwoman Hayley got smashed in the board and found herself coming last.
